On September 25, 2013, Olivia S. Mitchell of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania spoke before the Senate Special Committee on Aging, addressing the topic, “The Changing Face of Retirement Security in America”.
“Americans today are much more likely today to arrive at retirement with debt than in the past,” Mitchell said. “Moreover, not only do more people hold more debt, the median debt more than quadrupled between 1992 and 2008.”
